Flag presented for Flight Across America :
Wilmington – Lt. Governor John C. Carney, Jr. will present a Delaware State flag to Harry Van Den Heuvel, Delaware’s representative in the Flight Across America, on Tuesday, September 3.
Van Den Heuvel will represent the First State in an event that is expected to include flights from the 48 contiguous states to northern New Jersey. The event will culminate with the presentation of state flags on the USS Intrepid in New York City.
The Flight Across America is a grassroots effort meant to inspire the nation by reinvigorating the spirit of aviation. Flights began on August 11 and will continue through September 11. The goal is to develop a virtual web of flights across the country with an aircraft taking off and landing from each public airport in the continental United States.
Carney will give Van Den Heuvel a Delaware flag that flew over Legislative Hall in Dover. The Lt. Governor will make the presentation in his office on the 12th floor of the Carvel State Office Building at 9th and French streets in Wilmington at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3.
