GROVES DIPLOMA-AT-A-DISTANCE PROGRAM
| Purpose: | The purpose of Groves Diploma-At-A-Distance is to provide access for adults through distance education delivery. |
| History: | The Groves Diploma-At-A-Distance program is a component of the James H. Groves Adult High School which is a State Board of Education approved and Middle States accredited secondary adult high school. Groves Diploma-At-A-Distance was fully funded by the Legislature in 1997 to provide an opportunity for those who have difficulty participating in a classroom-based program or interest in online delivery to have access to a high school education. |
| Eligibility: | Individuals 16 years or older and out-of-school are eligible to enroll. |
| Requirements: | All graduates must have 22 credits with a Career Pathway and computer literacy. |
| Locations: | The Groves Diploma-At-A-Distance has toll free access throughout the state. Courses are delivered via computers in the home. |
| Graduates: | Groves Diploma-At-A-Distance has an annual graduation in September and includes the summer graduates of all Groves centers. |
| Number of Participants: | There are about 275 adult students enrolled annually . |
| Demographic Information: | 100% of the students would not have access to the program or course if it was not for this method of instructional delivery. |
| Program Results: | Many of the graduates enroll in college. |
| Cost to Participants: | Each student must pay a $40/semester materials fee. (This program is state funded.) Computers are loaned to students who do not own computers. There is a $75 security fee which is returned when the computer is returned. |
| Community Linkages and Public Support: | Linkages and collaborative efforts with business and industry and other agencies. This program enrolls a number of special admissions students. |
