Neighbors in Need of Support
The information below highlights events and initiatives for Delawareans in need of food, warm clothes, and other community resources.
Operation Warm (Delaware Public Libraries)
Delaware public libraries in all three counties are giving away free brand-new winter coat for your child, while supplies last! Coat sizes range from 4T to 14-16 (Big Kid). Children must be present. One coat per child. Everything is first come, first served—no registration required, so come early to get the best selection!
Black Mothers in Power Holiday Food and Resource Giveaway
Black Mothers In Power and Intersections of Pride Foundation are hosting a free food and resource giveaway on Thursday, November 20 from 10–11 AM at the BMIP Center in Wilmington. Families can pick up care packs filled with non-perishable foods and helpful resources in a warm, supportive community space.
Thomas Annual Turkey Drive
Free turkeys, essential food items, and limited sweaters and hoodies will be given to those in need in Wilmington on Saturday, November 22 at 2600 N. West St., starting at 11 a.m. Donations and volunteers are also welcome.
Mobile Food Bank
The sixth annual Mobile Food Bank will be held on Monday, November 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Absalom Jones Senior Center at 310 Kiamensi Road in Wilmington.
Delaware Regional Dream Center Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway
Their fifth annual drive-thru Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway will be held on Nov. 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 310 Ruther Drive, Units 9-11, Ogletown, providing a 25-pound Box of Hope and a frozen turkey or turkey breast to Delaware residents (limit two per vehicle, both participants must be present). Sign-up is not required.
St. Patrick’s Center Food Distribution
The St. Patrick’s Center at 107 E. 14th St. in Wilmington is distributing food, including turkeys, from Monday, November 24 through Wednesday, November 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as supplies last.

City of New Castle Food Drive
The City of New Castle and the New Castle Courthouse Museum (HCA) are partnering to collect food donations for the Food Bank of Delaware over the next month.
City of Lewes Food Drive
The City of Lewes is hosting a food drive from now through Monday, December 8. Donations can be drop at Lewes City Hall during business hours.
Mountaire Thanksgiving for Thousands
Mountaire’s Thanksgiving for Thousands program provides complete holiday meals to families in need, and volunteers play a vital role in making it happen. The event depends on hundreds of helping hands to pack and distribute boxes. If you’d like to give back this season, we encourage you to sign up and volunteer at one of their upcoming events.
WDEL’s Feed A Friend Food Drive
Join WDEL on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM as we raise funds to support local organizations. Your contributions will benefit Sunday Breakfast Mission, Emmanuel Dining Room, YWCA Delaware, Newark Area Welfare Committee, and the Food Bank of Delaware.
YMCA Canned Food & Clothing Drive
The YMCA of Delaware is hosting its annual Canned Food and Clothing Drive through Friday, November 21, encouraging the community to donate nonperishable food and winter clothing to support families in need. Donations will benefit local organizations, including the Y Mission Market and partner agencies, with special incentives for participants such as raffle entries and waived membership fees.
Coastal Alchemy’s Holiday Food Drive
Coastal Alchemy, in partnership with Free Food For All Delaware and the Food Bank of Delaware, is collecting nonperishable Thanksgiving and holiday meal staples through Saturday, November 22. Donations can be dropped off at events or designated community bins, and volunteers can contact lindsay@coastalalchemy.co.
The Ministry of Caring Turkeython
The Ministry of Caring Turkeython offers Thanksgiving dinner meal packages to 200 local families. Donations will be collected on Monday, November 24 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the ShopRite of Brandywine Commons at 1300 Rocky Run Parkway in Talleyville. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Big Ive’s Turkey Drive and Give-A-Way
A statewide turkey giveaway to serve Delaware seniors and families in need on Tuesday, November 26. Distribution stops will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
42nd Caroling on The Circle Food Drive
Sussex County is launching its annual holiday food drive to help break the cycle of hunger and support local families in need. The effort will be celebrated during the 42nd annual Caroling on The Circle on Thursday, December 4, which also leads into Georgetown’s tree lighting and Christmas parade.
Toys for Tots (DNREC Police)
Delaware Natural Resources Police are collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots program, with donation boxes available at DNREC locations statewide. Toys will be accepted through Wednesday, December 10 in Kent and Sussex counties and through Sunday, December 7, in New Castle County.
Latin American Community Center (LACC) Food Drive
La Tolteca Greenville is hosting a food drive to support the Food Pantry of the Latin American Community Center in Wilmington, offering a raffle ticket for each donated item for a chance to win a $100 gift card. All donations directly help local families in need, with the winner announced on Monday, December 22.
Sunday Breakfast Mission, WSFS Great Thanksgiving Food Drive
WSFS is supporting the Sunday Breakfast Mission for the Great Thanksgiving Food Drive, running now through the end of the year. Donations for food boxes can be made at any WSFS Bank branch in Delaware.
