The Behavioral Health Consortium (BHC) is an advisory body comprised of community advocates, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and state leaders that works towards solutions for action to address prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. The consortium continues to develop short-term and long-term strategies and initiatives to address the major addiction and mental health challenges we face in Delaware.
The Behavioral Health Consortium also oversees the work of Delaware’s Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Committee (POSDC). The POSDC is charged with providing funding recommendations to the BHC to abate and remediate Delaware’s Opioid crisis. The recommendations are required to be evidence-based to maximize opportunities to implement effective treatment interventions, recovery supports and prevention services.
“Across Delaware and across the nation, we’ve seen a significant rise in the need for mental health treatment and services. Through the Behavioral Health Consortium, we are working together to break down silos and find solutions for Delawareans struggling with mental illness and substance use disorder. The emotional wellbeing of our families depend on it.”
Behavioral Health Consortium Chair Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Ph.D., R.N
To learn more about the BHC or to get involved, contact Alexia Wolf, Director of the Behavioral Health Consortium, at alexia.wolf@delaware.gov.
Please join Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long and the Behavioral Health Consortium as they host special guest Sharece Sellem-Hannah for an exclusive screening of her film “Silence on the Streets”.
Made in collaboration with New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, this film specifically looks at how the economic and social conditions in Black, Brown, Latino, and Native American communities shape their experience with opioid and fentanyl use as well as addiction and recovery.
Additionally, as part of this event, a panel discussion will be hosted regarding how the Social Determinants of Health relate to Delaware’s mental and behavioral health, and how our communities can inspire collaboration as we work to get impacted Delawareans and their families the support they need to sustain recovery.
This event is sold out. Watch the trailer here.
